Former Kick Down Champion Noah Thomas headed to Canada for TKO title.
Former Kick Down champion and "The Ultimate Fighter" participant Noah Thomas will fight Friday evening in Canada for the 135 pound title in TKO against Adrian Wooly. Thomas made his mark in the Kick Down promotion where he held titles in the amateur and most recently the professional Light Weight division before vacating that belt as a result of earning a spot on "The Ultimate Fighter" and it's season 5. He has had the ability to move up and down in weight classes and Friday will mark the lowest weight he has fought at. We wish him the very best in his future pursuits in mixed martial arts.

After the action had halted both fighters had words for one another and they had to be separated by Locke and the promoter. When cooler heads prevailed both fighters cleared up the incident with a show of sportsmanship but it was Geopge Morgan who ended up the victor. All in all a good night of MMA in Casper, Wyoming.

Kelley
wins Heavyweight title, several fighters impressive at Kick Down 53
In front of a crowd that rivaled the largest in Kick Down history, the raucous fans in Casper, Wyoming saw their champion go down to defeat via heel hook in the 1st round. In a surprise of sorts the main event at Kick Down 53 ended up on the ground where two fighters Damond Clark and Tony Kelley were known more for their striking. They battled on the ground for the better part of the round trying to secure knee bar or heel hook from one another when at 3:40 of the first round Tony Kelley worked the heel of Damond Clark. Clark tapped out Kelley jumped up with hands raised. Moments later he was announced the new Kick Down men's heavyweight professional MMA champion.
Jeremy Hart was given a chance to take on current light heavyweight champion Brian Cristina for his title in September in Denver, Colorado. All he needed to do was win against 275 pound Jason Burrell and he did that in just 23 seconds with a couple of hard shots above the eye brow. Referee Eric Heinz stepped in and stopped the bout.
In what may have been one of the strangest bouts in the promotions history. Amateur heavyweight champ Jon Alexander put his undefeated record on the line against Mike Harmon (5-1) out of Gillette, Wyoming. When the bell rang to start round 1 both fighters looked to exchange when Alexander came across the cage and threw a knee that landed in the center of Harmon's face. Harmon had turned a bit to the side when they initially exchanged and then Alexander continued and landed a lower knee glancing off of the head of Harmon as well. Eric Heinz stepped in stopped the action gave Harmon 5 minutes to recover. Harmon took the allotted time but could not continue. Since the knees were deemed unintentional the bout was ruled a "NO CONTEST". All of this at just 14: seconds of round 1.

"Of The Night" moments
Special recognition goes out to Logan Petro for being the youngest amateur Kick Down competitor to compete for a title at only 19 years of age.
Humorous moments of the night included Pat Anderson stating that he may make the transition from MMA to golf and Jeremy Malaterre stating in his post fight interview, "I'd also like to thank my parents for hooking up in 1986."
Cheering section of the night goes to the fans from Craig Colorado for their support of fighters Travis Linsacum and Cody Fredrickson. Likely these fans were the loudest in Kick Down history.
Knockout/TKO of the night goes to Richard Large for his flurry of uppercuts that earned him the TKO victory.
Chin of the night goes to Pete Vandervort for recovering from a punch that literally loosened some of his teeth, then coming back to get the submission victory.
Submission of the night goes to Nick Honstein for transitioning from an armbar to a heel-hook to a fight ending kneebar. He's only the third fighter in 52 Kick Down events to win by kneebar.
Fight of the night goes to Nick Honstein and Vellore Cabellaro for their incredibly technical ground work that included submission attempts, reversals, submission escapes, GNP action and slick positional and submission transitions. Truly these two showed what it means to be professional MMA fighters.

Steve
Alley looked like he could use a nap.
His latest mixed martial arts promotion had been over for about an hour, but
Alley was still hard at work tying up loose ends after Kick Down 51 at the
Central Wyoming Fairgrounds Industrial Building.
Officially the ring announcer and promoter, it's the unofficial work not listed
on the program that had his eyes bloodshot.
Accountant, online play-by-play man, Budweiser and pizza pitchman, DJ booth
troubleshooter, post-fight interviewer, glad hander and MMA historian -- there's
virtually no aspect of the 15-bout card that Alley doesn't touch.
"I've done a little bit of everything in this business," he said. "Overall, it's
the thing that I love.
"I do this fulltime, and this is my living. I tell you, there's a lot of
pleasure in this fight promoting."
That's good,
because there's plenty to do.
Alley blames a cold for his tired, tuxedoed appearance in Casper, but it's a
tough sell considering everything he's done over the last month.
He's put on two live Kick Down shows broadcast on pay-per-view over the
internet.
There was a play-by-play gig in Pueblo, Colo., and a trip to Fredericksburg,
Va., to announce for another fledgling promotion.
Throw in responsibilities as a fight trainer, a coach for the hometown Denver
Fury in Chuck Norris' World Combat League and as a family man and there's not
time for much else.
Even if there were, Alley would probably only use it to find another way to get
bigger in the booming, bruising business that's not-so-subtly taken over the
fight game.
"People need to understand this is a business where (lots of) people train
fighters, and even the amateurs are unbelievable," Alley said. "You could see
that (in Casper).
"The problem I have is it's a very competitive business. But we have a great
little show here. The show's always consistent. All the fights were evenly
matched, and once again no injuries. We see a little bit of everything --
striking, submission, kickboxing, wrestling. Overall the flow of it was
wonderful."
Even though he wasn't actually fighting inside Kick Down's caged hexagon, the
credit largely goes to the matchmaker -- Alley in another unbilled role.
His latest venture struggled at times, which wasn't surprising with about half
the card making its MMA debut.
But it also showcased everything that's turned the sport into one of the hottest
commodities on the market.
Obviously the standard blood, sweat and tears were on display, but it's the
package of showmanship, sportsmanship and unpredictable violence that keeps the
venues packed and the athletes in the ring.
And Alley everywhere in between.
"The show's a success, people know what they can expect when they come to a Kick
Down fight promotion," Alley said. "You get a little bit of everything, and,
yeah, I work hard at it.
"I hope to get big, but haven't yet hit the huge time. It's coming."
He just might not sleep until it does.
Kick Down 51: "Submission"
Saturday night May 31, 2008, was a risky night for a promoter to choose to throw a live event. On that night for the first time ever there was live MMA being shown on network television. Fans in Casper Wyoming must have had their TiVo machines working overtime because it seemed most of them chose to be at the live 51st Kick Down.
There was plenty for folks to like as a host of debut fighters came out to make their name(s) known, two titles were on the line and two bouts featured women's MMA action.
Bout one: James Fedjii defeated Leo Ingwerson with a quick TKO due to GNP at :38 of round one.
Bout two: Peter Straub defeated Sam Millinghaus with a TKO due to GNP at 2:21 of round one.
Bout three: Mike Rutheford defeated Cory Parker with TKO due to GNP at 1:19 of round one.
Bout four: Casey Alexander defeated Viktoria Sieley with a TKO due to GNP at :21 of round one.
Bout five: Doug Saiz defeated Brenton Swanson by guillotine choke at :43 of round three.
Bout six: Shaun Ogle defeated Josh Roberts for the Kick Down amateur Lightheavyweight men's MMA title by TKO due to GNP at 1:21 of round one.
Bout seven: Frank Morris defeated Cameron Thurgood by triangle choke at 2:41 of round two.
Bout eight: Emanuel Chapman defeated Kellhin Roszel by RNC at :59 of round one.
Bout nine: Kyle Dye defeated Richard Large by RNC at :42 of round one.
Bout 10: Art Brown defeated Mike Malone by armbar at :29 of round two.
Bout 11: John Alexander Defeated Adam Reed for the Kick Down Men's amateur Heavyweight MMA title by TKO due to GNP at 1:38 of round two.
Bout 12: Cody Frederickson defeated Ken Scott by leg controlled armbar from side control at 1:33 of round one.
The rest of the bouts on the card were contested in the professional division.
Bout 13: Louise Johnson defeated Ellsha Cleffman by TKO due to GNP at :59 of round one.
Bout 14: Rex Payne defeated Pete Vandervort by triangle choke at 3:51 of round one.
In the main event Tim Ouimette defeated Jasiah Tangey by RNC at :48 of round one.
Now for the, "Of the night" moments.
Most used winning move of the night was TKO due to GNP. :)
Fight of the night to Frank Morris and Cameron Thurgood for their amazing display of Jiu-Jitsu in MMA; utilizing it for submission attempts, reversals, escapes, sweeps and striking.
Slam of the night (also shot of the night...talk about fast) to Kyle Dye for his double leg shot to set up the overhead scoop slam.
KO/TKO of the night to Louise Johnson. Even though it was technically a referee stoppage due to the strong GNP her opponent (Ellsha) looked out for a few moments after the bout. Ellsha however did get off the canvas, smile and congratulate Louise on her win.
Chin(s) of the night to John Alexander and Adam Reed for the exchanges in their bout where it seemed each landed punches that should have knocked the other out.
Submission of the night to Rex Payne for his smooth and relaxed transition to get the fight ending triangle.
Humorous moment of the night to Tim Ouimette for good naturedly taking a moment to check the sponsors printed on his shorts to make sure everyone got thanked.
Be sure to check the site calendar for upcoming events.

Kick Down 50: "Milestone"
May 10,2008
Denver, Colorado
Snyder takes care of business. New champions crowned on stellar evening.
Saturday evening in the Mile High city of Denver, Colorado a standing room only sell out crowd witnessed the 50th event in the history of the Kick Down which is a milestone for any promotion large or smaller. Because of the occasion the night included 12 bouts. 1 modified muay thai title and 11 mixed martial arts bouts of which 7 of those were to determine amateur and professional titles. Colby Snyder made his first title defense and took the fight to the challenger and for a fighter known more for his stand up skills it was Snyder who took the fight to the ground and worked the fight over against the fence and landed elbows and a ground domination before the bout was stopped by the referee due to strikes at 4:26 of round 1. Colby Snyder retains his Kick Light Weight title.
In other action Nick Honstein captured the Feather Weight title by what was described as a "loco plata" at 3:26 of the first round. Honstein is the new Kick Down Feather weight champion. Brian Cristina captured the Light Heavy Weight title vacated by Chris Camozzi (He won his fight Friday at MFC in Canada) by tap out due to exhaustion. Cristina fought Brett Shafer and the fought went back and forth with flurries, knees, ground work by both. Then Cristina began to take control of the fight and unable to defend, Shafer who was obviously winded tapped out. Don Lee made history with Geoff Brokx by being the first fighters to compete in the 6 sided cage in a muay thai fight and they did not disappoint. In a closely contested bout that both fighters "put on a show" it was Don Lee who won by split decision and captured the Light Weight title. Forrest Clouse retained his middle weight title by submitting Ben Hand in the first round and Adam Martinez captured the Jr. Light Weight title by handing the previously undefeated Mike Suksi his first loss.
RESULTS:
Colby Snyder defeated Daniel Douglass by referee stoppage due to strikes 4:26 R1

Early in round two Clouse accidentally poked Scot in the eye, and after being given time to recover Scott got the takedown, but ended up on his back. After securing a reversal Scott worked for more GNP, but Clouse set in a triangle choke off of his back to win the title with a submission victory at 2:32 of round two.
Bout 12: Rex Payne Vs Nick Honstein in the Co-Main event. Payne got a quick takedown, but Honstein set in a fast triangle choke. When Payne circled to escape the choke Honstein switched to the armbar and got it sunk in for the tapout win at :30 of round one.
Bout 13: Tim Ouimette Vs Pete Vandervort in the main event. After a bfief exchange of strikes Vandervort shot for the takedown, but Ouimette sprawled and ended up on top. Ouimette stood and threw a series of strikes and a kick landed to the head of a still downed Vandervort. After taking time to recover the bout continued and Ouimette again ended up on top after a takedown attempt by Vandervort. Vandervort was able to get a leg over the shoulder of Ouimette to set in a triangle choke. Ouimette defended by way of a slam, but Vandervort again got the choke set in. This time Ouimette stayed on his knees and worked strikes to the head of Vandervort until the referee stopped the bout giving the win to Ouimette at 2:46 of round one.

Kick Down 48: "Fight On" Results
By Ann Dain Colorado Fight Events
Steve Alley has magic when it comes to drawing a crowd. Nearly every seat was filled before the opening bell in spite of a date conflict with an exciting UFC pay-per-view card. This audience wanted to see real action – not televised or projected on a screen in a bar. As always, the pre-fight audio consisted of great music that seemed to be just the right volume and just the right mix for the audience. Ring Physician Alex Constantinedes was in attendance as I believe he has been for every fight I have covered. Although he is at nearly every event, tonight he would see much for demand for his services than usual.
The event was presided over by Colorado Boxing Commissioner, Josef Mason. Ringside was J. R. Gordon of Martial Arts Radio, Mike Ruman of MMA Buzz, Rob Schmid, representing ColoradoFightEvents as well as non-ringside media from MMA Station, KHOW Radio and MMA Mountain, a new print publication about to make it’s debut in the Spring of 2008.
